Thank you for attending the Elimisha Kakuma friend-raiser!

Our donors and supporters enable us to prepare and help propel Kakuma students into college.

Please consider supporting our work:

  • Make a donation to invest in Elimisha Kakuma students

  • Introduce us to a University/College to expand Elimisha Kakuma’s reach

  • Volunteer to host an Elimisha Kakuma scholar – now or in the future

Here are the Recommended Levels of Donation, to help make an immediate impact!

  • $100 - Monthly Personal Internet Bundles

    • Camp officials impose a 6 pm curfew - in order to complete homework in the evening students must purchase internet access through their phones.

  • $500 - Visa & SEVIS Fee for 1 Student

  • $750 - 1 Month of School-Hour Meals for 12 Students and 2 staff

    • Food rations for refugees from NGOs are never sufficient - we provide meals so our students don't go hungry during the school day

  • $1,200 - Kindles for 12 students

    • There is no library at all in Kakuma. We want our student to have access to a variety of reading materials

  • $1,500 - Two (2) Laptops for Students

    • Laptops are essential for students to do their work in our center and at home. Few have ever touched a laptop before, much less owned one.

  • $1,700 - Flight from Kakuma Camp to the US

    • Students often receive their visas to the US only days before they must report to class - last minute flights are expensive

  • $2,400 - One year salary for our Facilitator in Kakuma

    • Other than a security guard, our only paid employee is Kiza, a refugee in Kakuma, who ensures that classes run smoothly.

  • $5,000 Travel and housing  for in-person teaching: $5,000

    • In-person classes will better prepare students for the US college experience. Our volunteers are ready to go to Kakuma but need support

  • $9,000 - One year of meals for 12 Students and 2 staff

  • $10,000 - Upgrading the center

  • $25,000 - Visa fees and flights for the third cohort of students

    • As we look ahead, we are confident that our 2023-24 students will proceed to university.  We want to make sure that we have the funds to get them started in the next chapters of their lives.
