Dr. Brett Shadle
As a first-generation college student, I graduated with a bachelor’s in history from Northern Illinois University, and went on to earn a doctorate in African history from Northwestern University. After several years teaching at the University of Mississippi, I arrived at Virginia Tech in 2005. I am associate director of Virginia Techs's Center for Refugee, Migrant, and Displacement Studies, which pursues research and teaching around issues of displacement, and works with displaced individuals locally and internationally.

May Arthur
May Arthur is an accomplished senior executive, consultant, and a thought leader, with more than 30 years of success across various sectors of international education. She has served on various nonprofit boards including EnglishUSA and has held several executive leadership positions with NAFSA. Most recently, in 2023, May was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by NAFSA Region XI, and the Lifetime Impact Award by The PIE. Her broad areas of expertise include global strategy, organizational leadership, business development, and global operations.

Brad Jones
Brad Jones currently serves as the Treasurer for Elimisha Kakuma. His career has spanned nonprofit, corporate and association government relations roles as well as several years in finance. He holds a MBA from Southern Methodist University and BA from the University of North Carolina where he was a cheerleader (Go Heels!). He has served as a Senior Warden at Restoration Anglican Church and in other leadership and board roles for a variety of nonprofits community organizations. Brad lives in Northern Virginia with his wonderful wife, 3 kids, dog and chickens.

Eve Smith
Eve Smith is a seasoned marketing, communication and Consumer Insight professional with 30 years guiding consumer brands, products and nonprofits. With a background in qualitative market research, Eve brings valuable insights to her clients’ strategic decisions and initiatives. Eve has served as a dedicated member of the Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North and South Dakota Action Fund board for 25 years contributing her expertise and passion to support the organization's mission. Other nonprofit experience includes Second Harvest Heartland, Memorial Blood Centers, and many others.

Rachael Jarosh
Rachael Jarosh is a US-based business executive, civic leader and philanthropist. As a leading voice in the transformation of business models to advance education, sustainable capitalism and equity, Rachael has spoken at leadership forums worldwide. Most recently, Rachael served as CEO of Enactus, an ed-tech platform for next generation social innovators. Earlier, Rachael built a distinctive professional portfolio in law, finance, communications and philanthropic strategy during her 30+ year career. She has a demonstrated ability to build outstanding executive teams and boards of directors, and currently serves on several corporate and non-profit boards.
